BIRMINGHAM FLORIST

BIRMINGHAM’S AWARD WIINNING LOCAL FLORISTS OFFER SAME DAY DELIVERY OF HAND TIED FLOWERS

Buttercups & Daisies, members of the BFA first opened its doors in the early 90s and their award winning local florists have been providing same day delivery of hand tied flowers in and around Birmingham ever since. With a collective experience in excess of 60 years, we are happy to work with these, and other, artisanal local florists in Birmingham. As members of BloomLocal they epitomise our ethos of using the finest, fresh, hand tied flowers to create fantastic floral arrangements and bouquets for all occasions and budgets. They have hand tied flowers to celebrate an anniversary or birthday, to offer sympathy or commemorate a special event, and a fantastic selection of festive flowers available for same day delivery in Birmingham. All flowers are delivered directly from the shop, we don’t use centralised warehouses. Our hand tied flowers are delivered in water to guarantee freshness and reduce waste. Machine cut flowers, warehouses and long distance delivery are not only bad for the recipient; they are also bad for floristry and the environment. By working with local florists across the country we are promoting more eco-friendly flower delivery in the UK. Fresh, hand tied flowers from local florists offering same day delivery promotes local businesses and improves the sustainability of floristry. Together we are working towards building the best same day flower delivery in the UK.

BIRMINGHAM: A THRIVING CITY IN THE COUNTRY WITH A BRIGHT FUTURE

The undoubted cultural, financial, social and commercial hub of the Midlands, Birmingham is the second largest city in the UK. Many of the innovations in the city led to the birth of the Industrial Revolution, and due to its importance Birmingham was subjected to extensive bombings by the Luftwaffe from the summer of 1940 until the spring of 1943.The resulting damage, and a far sighted city planning vision, led to the regeneration of the city, which continues to this day. Birmingham has five universities, making it the largest higher education centre in the country outside of London, and its cultural institutions enjoy an international reputation. As the city has grown and evolved, so has the trend for local businesses serving the local community. This has led to thriving independent arts, music and culinary scenes, and an eclectic mix of local artisans and entrepreneurs who continue to innovate in a number of industries. Despite there being a host of informative travel guides and recommendations for the top things to do and see in Birmingham, our local florists wanted to share their views on what to see and do, and where to eat and drink in Birmingham.

A LOCALS GUIDE OF WHAT TO SEE AND DO IN BIRMINGHAM

THE BIRMINGHAM BOTANICAL GARDENS

It may seem like no surprise that local florists would recommend a visit to botanic gardens, but despite the obvious bias this is without doubt one of the best places to visit in Birmingham. Not only are there four glasshouses featuring habitats from around the world, the beautiful planted beds and shrubberies around the lawn brings to mind a typical Victorian public park. Complete with bandstand!

THE CUSTARD FACTORY

The birthplace of instant custard, this redesigned venue offers a glimpse into Birmingham’s past and offers a look at its future. Bursting with artwork and home to a variety of restaurants and bars, there are also many independent businesses trading here (the flea markets are not to be missed!) and an excellent cinema.

BIRMINGHAM BACK TO BACKS

Also known as Court 15, this painstakingly restored 19th century courtyard reveals the history of the working classes by telling the stories of different occupants from 1840-1977. Guided tour is the only way to see this hidden gem, and pre-booking with the National Trust is advisable.

CANNON HILL PARK

Covering 250 acres, this is the most popular park in the city with good reason, and is home to the Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park in addition to formal gardens, woodland and numerous recreational activities.

WHERE TO EAT AND DRINK IN BIRMINGHAM

Despite there being a number of excellent restaurant guides, we thought we would share some of our local florists top choices.

CRAFT

Independent, and family run, this outstanding venue offers modern British food and serves British wines and is pioneering a new approach to dining.

THE BUTTON FACTORY

This may be the hippest hangout in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter and serves a delicious menu featuring locally sourced produce and an impressive array of drinks.

SABAI SABAI

For a taste of authentic Thai cuisine this independent business has venues across the city and is definitely worth a visit.

THE PIG AND TAIL

This independent bar and restaurant is small, quirky and serves outstanding South Asian cuisine and specialises in small batch craft beers.
